Hey, try this cool weather experiment that I like to call the "Tornado in a Bottle"!

You will need:

  • 2 two-liter soda bottles
  • A washer with a 3/8 inch hole
  • Electrical tape
  • Food coloring (optional)

    Here's what you do:
    1. Fill one bottle about two-thirds full of water. If you want, you can add some food coloring to make it look cooler.
    2. Tape the bottles together at the mouths, with the washer between them.
    3. Place the two bottles on a table, with the filled bottle on top. Quickly rotate the bottles in a circle a few times.

    Here's what's happening:
Gravity, air pressure, and water pressure make the water move in a circle. It creates a vortex, like a tornado or a whirlpool!
